How It All Started

I launched JC Publishers LLC in 2007 so I could maintain complete control while publishing my first book.

After spending nearly a year researching the publishing process I discovered a number of snares and pitfalls to avoid. I was shocked, almost to the point of disbelief, to find so many online publishers who are willing to take advantage of new, uninformed authors. I can tell you the good, bad, and the ugly about most of these publishing predators. JC Publishers evolved, almost as an afterthought, and is dedicated to helping new authors get published without getting ripped off.

While publishing is a passion, I also have a background in ministry and education.

Ted Bowman has served as evangelist, pastor, associate pastor, Christian school principal, and seminar instructor, as well as a public school teacher in the secular arena. A master carpenter and cabinet maker, he also has experience as a residential building contractor and worked as a commercial construction superintendent.

His first year out of Bible College, Ted walked the streets of downtown Chicago ministering to troubled youth. He has ministered often to Youth for Christ Clubs and spent a year as full-time counselor at Anchor House, a group home for abused and neglected teens in Auburndale, Florida. As a result, his ministry to youth has been greatly enhanced.

Ted brings to local churches a sincere desire to win the lost while encouraging and spiritually equipping believers. His ministry is highlighted by instrumental and vocal music that offers everything from God-centered praise and worship to old fashioned Southern Gospel.

Ted survived a brain stem stroke in 1995 with no long-term side effects. His neurosurgeon, reluctant to use the word miracle, said, "You were a nice surprise to us, and we can use a surprise like that once in a while." The head ICU nurse nicknamed Ted "The Miracle Man," and said, "There is no way he should be alive."

My daughter at age seven survived stage-four, terminal cancer in 1999, much to the surprise of her doctors. Their goal was shrinking the tumor to half-size within three months and then, surgically removing it. The highly malignant tumor disappeared in less than four weeks after diagnosis. Doctors had no explanation.
