My Take on Ministry |
My Goal In Ministry... is making believers aware of God's longing to be intimate with each of His children. His original desire to fellowship with Adam and all mankind has never changed. He just wants to spend time with each of us and get to know us. God is a Father who just happens to be God. The Old Testament calls Him "Father" a mere ten times. In the New Testament He is referred to as "Father" some 300 times. He's trying to tell us something. God wants a family. In Galatians 4:6, the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to call Him, "Abba, Father." Abba is Aramaic for "Papa." A Man-Centered Gospel... is suffocating believers today. Much of our preaching, much of our teaching and far too much of our music is focused on us instead of God. Psychiatrists tell us we spend 95% of our time thinking about ourselves. "It is not I anymore," Paul said in Galatians 2:20, "It's Christ." Christ must be the beginning, the center and the end of everything in our lives, or we will be off-center. I Have No Bad News... for the Church. You can get your daily dose of bad news from the networks and the press. The Gospel is "good news." You should leave every church service knowing you are loved and there is hope. Faith Is Not About You and Me... it's about HIM. It is not about our struggle to believe—it's about God and His irreducible ability to fulfill His Word in our lives. In the words of Corrie Ten Boom, "Don't struggle; snuggle. Don't wrestle; nestle." If we focus on Christ, everything else falls into place. It doesn't make life easier; it makes it much more tolerable during the bad times. Faith is God's reassurance we will survive and He will be glorified in the process. Most of Us Need... to give God the time He needs to build His Son's character into our lives. A June apple is green, bitter and juiceless, yet it is a perfect apple...for June. All the faith, fasting and praying in the world will never change June to October. You may not need a breakthrough—you may just need patience. Wisdom you can get by asking. Patience only comes through waiting. I Am Always Asking God... to put me in the company of people who are desperately seeking to know the Lord intimately. People who are willing to lay down any tradition, thought, or attitude that hinders that pursuit. Somebody Said... "I wish I could have lived when Jesus lived." I've got great news...You Do! You will be close to the Kingdom when the only reason you want to be in ministry is because you love God's people (including the ones who are very difficult to love). As the hart panteth after the waterbrooks, so pantenth my soul after thee, O God. Psalm 42:1 You are on the My Take On Ministry page. Updated July 16, 2023 |
